The Cannabis Beverage Producers Alliance is asking Health Canada to use packaging familiar to consumers and utilize branding techniques on par with alcohol branding rules, reports The Montreal Gazette. The ten companies hoping to produce and sell cannabis-infused beverages also want to see legislation adapted so companies do not need to build separate facilities for infused beverages.
Under the draft regulations, plain packaging and labeling is required for all cannabis products, including strict limits on the use of logos, colors, and branding. The proposed regulations suggest packaging should not associate a cannabis-infused beverage with alcoholic beverages or brands of alcohol. In the case of a company manufacturing more than just cannabis products, separate buildings within one licensed site would need to be used. Full Story
