Wild Zora added its Mediterranean Lamb and BBQ Beef bars to Walmart's "Healthy Alternatives" section, at the lowest retail price yet. The company launched its meat and veggie bars at Whole Foods Market in 2015. Recently, Wild Zora says it was faced with the choice of paying more in fees and promotional costs or being removed from the retailer's shelves.
However, since 2017, Walmart has committed to supporting smaller, local businesses and has been providing more shelf space for health-conscious brands. By choosing Walmart, Wild Zora says its products will reach a wider audience and cost less. The company says where Whole Foods was once the great supporter of small family brands, Amazon's takeover forced Wild Zora in unlikely arms of the world's largest retailer, Walmart.
