Refresco has acquired Cott Corp.'s soft drink concentrate business and its RCI International division for $50 million. Refresco will make the Columbus concentrate manufacturing facility part of Refresco North America. The business adds extensive innovation capabilities and skills and creates a global center of excellence for beverage concentrate manufacturing, says Hans Roelofs, CEO of Refresco
However, Refresco then immediately divested the RCI division, selling it to RC Global Beverages. "We decided to find an owner who can bring similar focus and continuity to this iconic brand. With RC Global Beverages Inc., we believe we have found an excellent match," Roelofs adds.
Tom Harrington, Cott's CEO, says selling the carbonated beverage assets was the final step in a transformation plan that will allow his company to focus on accelerating growth across its platform in water, coffee, tea, extracts, and filtration solutions.
