Consumers expect food-related industries to commit to corporate social responsibility, according to research firm Clutch. Seventy-two percent of those surveyed expect this commitment from grocery retailers and 62 percent from restaurants. A majority primarily want grocery retailers and restaurants to address local food insecurity by feeding those in need.
The study found that people have a demand for a higher level of social responsibility from companies that produce or sell food. Consumers expect businesses in these industries to act in different ways depending on how they're naturally positioned to support the wellbeing of individuals, local communities, and the global community.
