Walmart is partnering with Ford to test grocery delivery with self-driving cars. The pilot program will take place in Miami-Dade County, Fla., using Postmates as its delivery partner, which is already connected to Ford's digital platform.
Walmart aims to learn more about using self-driving vehicles to serve its customers through this test and other pilots it has developed. It previously launched a small pilot project with Waymo to drive customers to Walmart stores to pick up online grocery orders. The company notes, "Before self-driving cars can go mainstream, we must get a better sense of how people want to interact with them."
