Instagram is the platform of choice when researching restaurants and sharing food experiences, according to the The National Restaurant Association. A panel of Gen Z consumers, all of whom work in restaurants, expressed that they follow their favorite chefs and check out where their friends are eating on Instagram. They prefer to be contacted via text over email.
Gen Z cares about sustainability, as well as employer ideals, and advises that restaurants ask customers if they want straws or utensils before giving these automatically. The group also noted that take-out is important, but they find eating on-site to be a more enjoyable experience and they like using a loyalty rewards system. When it comes to training, panelists advised against assuming Gen Z will read manuals.
