The Kroger Co. and Ocado named Cincinnati suburb Monroe, Ohio, as the future site of America's first customer fulfillment center (CFC). Kroger is investing $55 million to build the first shed, which will measure 335,000 square feet and is expected to generate more than 410 new jobs.
Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen says the facility, powered by Ocado, will accelerate the company's ability to provide customers with anything, anytime, and anywhere. This first facility will be replicated and serve as a model for the 20 CFCs Kroger plans to open. The CFCs will have innovative robotics technology, allowing for next-generation automated storage, and retrieval.
