Kraft Heinz Company Selling Canadian Cheese Business

Parmalat has struck a deal to buy The Kraft Heinz Company's Canadian natural cheese brands including Cracker Barrel, P'tit Quebec and aMOOza! for about $1.23 million. Under the terms, Kraft Heinz will sell its production facility in Ingleside, Ontario and transfer about 400 employees from that operation to Parmalat.

Bernardo Hees, chief executive officer of Kraft Heinz says Parmalat is uniquely positioned to advance the natural cheese business given their experience and focus on the dairy industry. Meanwhile, Kraft Heinz remains committed to the Canadian market and will continue to own and market other cheese products, including Philadelphia, Cheez Whiz and Kraft Singles, but wants to focus on the segments and categories where it has stronger brand equity, competitive advantage and greater growth prospects.
