Beyond Meat's Beyond Burger has debuted in Tesco stores in the U.K. after its launch was delayed by supply issues, reports The Guardian. The product was slated to arrive in Tesco in August, but was held back after huge demand in the U.S. put pressure on its U.K. supplies. The plant-based burger will be stocked alongside conventional fresh meat patties in more than 350 Tesco stores, as well as the Honest Burger restaurant chain and All Bar One's outlets.
The U.K. has an estimated 22 million flexitarians, and Waitrose found a third of British people have now stopped or reduced their meat eating. "The Beyond Burger has been one of the most eagerly anticipated food launches of the year," says Martyn Doble, Tesco's prepared foods manager. "The most common reaction from those that have tried it is that they cannot believe it is made from plants." Full Story
