Starbucks China Expands Delivery to Beijing and Shanghai

Starbucks China has launched delivery services in the Beijing and Shanghai markets with plans to expand delivery to more than 2,000 stores in 30 cities by the end of 2018, reports China Daily. The delivery program will cover more than half of its current stores in the country before year's end, and the company expects to expand coverage in 2019.

"Starbucks Delivers," which is the first delivery service offered by Starbucks globally, will be available through both the Starbucks app and ele.me app. The company is likely feeling the pressure by emerging coffee brands in China like Luckin Coffee, which has opened 1,100 stores and offers free delivery for certain items.

"Delivery is a must-to-do for Starbucks to catch up with its domestic rivals that have already offered such services," says Zhu Danpeng, an independent food and beverage analyst, according to the report. Full Story
