Shopsin's General Store Owner Has Died

Iconic New York City restaurateur Kenny Shopsin has passed away, reports Eater. The owner of Shopsin's General Store was known for his outsized personality at his quirky diner inside Essex Street Market on the Lower East Side. The restaurant started as a grocery store in Greenwich Village in 1973 before turning into the diner it is now.

Shopsin was famous for his arbitrary policies such as no ordering the same thing as someone else at the table, no tables larger than four, one child per customer, and no cellphones. His menu contained 900 items and was most known for its unique pancake options such as one with mac and cheese, according to the report. Full Story
