ReGrained closed out its $2.5 million Series Seed financing, which will help the company scale its processing technology and commercialize its ingredient business. The company's "ReGrainery" upcycles millions of tons of high-protein high-fiber grain generated by the brewing industry to make its SuperGrain, which can be used in commercial applications.
The round was led by Griffith Foods, which will become a strategic partner that will accelerate ReGrained's ability to mitigate food waste and promote edible upcycling. Barilla Group's BLU1877, Telluric Foods, and other strategic and crowdsourced investors also participated.
The funding builds on a strong year for ReGrained, which saw the launch of its first consumer product line, SuperGrain+ bars, the introduction of compostable packaging, partnerships with multinational food companies, and entry into thousands of new retail locations.
