Nearly three-quarters of Americans actively try to include locally grown foods in their diets, according to a Gallup poll. In addition, 47 percent say they try to include organic foods, but 41 percent say they don't think much about whether to include them or not. The majority of Americans report trying to add vegetables, fruits, poultry, and seafood to their diets, while avoiding soda and sugar.
About 92 percent of Americans say they try to eat vegetables, with 91 percent, 86 percent, 75 percent, and 70 percent reporting they try to eat fruits, poultry, fish and grains, respectively. Only 64 percent and 63 percent noted that they try to eat dairy and red meat. Additionally, soda and sugar are foods Americans try to avoid, with 61 percent and 52 percent noting they avoid each, respectively.
