The Balvenie has unveiled The Balvenie Fifty: Marriage 0962, a scotch whisky that's sourced from four American Oak casks that were aged for 50 years or more, and then blended together, reports Food & Wine. Due to the alcohol volume, taste, and age, the creation took months to complete, says malt master David C. Stewart.
The result is a product that reportedly contains flavors of malt and oak with Balvanie's classic honeyed sweetness. And it's said to have a long and lingering finish with dried fruits, and vanilla oaky spice notes.
The company says this is one of the oldest whiskies ever sold on the consumer market. The Balvenie Fifty: Marriage 0962 has alcohol by volume of 41.6 percent and the price tag for a 750-milliter bottle is $38,000. This liquor will only be sold by select retailers, according to the report. Full Story
