Cava Group has agreed to acquire Zoës Kitchen Inc., operator of Zoës Kitchen restaurants for about $300 million. The combined companies will operate 327 Mediterranean-inspired restaurants in 24 states throughout the U.S. The merger is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Following closing, Brett Schulman, current CEO of Cava, will serve as CEO of the combined company and work closely with the existing leadership teams at Zoës Kitchen and Cava to oversee their growth. Ron Shaich will serve as chairman of the combined company.
Zoës Kitchen operates 261 locations in 20 states across the U.S. Cava operates more than 60 restaurants across 10 states and produces a line of chef-crafted dips and spreads sold in more than 250 Whole Foods Market locations and other specialty grocery stores around the country. Cava plans to have 75 locations nationwide by the end of 2018.
