Aldi Revamping Fresh Food Selection

Aldi has launched a new product expansion with an emphasis on fresh, organic and easy-to-prepare options. Through this initiative, 20 percent of products in every Aldi store will be new compared to last year, with new fresh food items increasing by 40 percent. The new items include "fresh and healthy", "convenient," and "must-have" products.

Examples of fresh and healthy products include more ready-to-cook and organic fresh meats; an expanded produce selection, including veggie noodles and ready-to-eat sliced fruits; and Aldi's expanded Earth Grown line, which has new vegan and vegetarian options. New convenient offerings include expanded refrigeration items for grab-and-go convenience, more drinks and refrigerated beverages, and more easy-to-prepare meal starters. Must-have items include more baked goods, and the addition of organic almond and coconut milk and lactose-free and soy milk.

Aldi operates more than 1,800 stores across the country, and is investing more than $5 billion to remodel and expand its store count to 2,500 by the end of 2022. The company reports it's more than halfway through its remodel investment, which features additional refrigeration space to accommodate more fresh, healthy, and convenient products.
